A year of transformation: Juventus’ evolution under Gianluca Ferrero’s leadership
Exactly a year ago, on January 18, 2023, a clear and simple phrase echoed through the Juventus corridors, encapsulating the essence of a new era: “We will work to build a future for Juventus worthy of its past.”
This marked the official beginning of a transformative period for the club, still in its infancy but promising significant shifts.
In the midst of ongoing processes, and shortly after the announcement of the initial penalties, Juventus unveiled its revamped Board of Directors (cdA) on that crucial day.
The newly structured board, set to serve for three fiscal years until the 2025 budget approval assembly, comprises President Gianluca Ferrero, CEO Maurizio Scanavino, along with Laura Cappiello, Diego Pistone, and Fioranna Vittoria Negri. The trio of Cappiello, Pistone, and Negri assumes key roles in Committees for Nominations and Remuneration, Control and Risks, Operations with Related Parties, and ESG, respectively.

President Gianluca Ferrero, reflecting on the momentous occasion, expressed his emotions and pride. “I took on the role of Juventus president with great emotion but also pride,” he remarked at the beginning of his discourse. Gratitude extended to Andrea Agnelli, who gifted him a Juventus jersey, symbolizing the weight of the responsibility he aimed to honor.
Chosen and designated by John Elkann on November 29, 2022, as the new president, Ferrero assumed office less than a month later, emerging as a trusted figure within the Agnelli family.
Tasked with being the linchpin of a team of experts and professionals, Ferrero’s tenure faced immediate challenges, navigating through processes and negotiations, culminating in the acceptance of penalties to restore normalcy to Juventus.
The proclaimed objective was clear from the outset: defend the team across all competent forums, be it legal, sporting, or civil. A resolute yet measured approach aimed to safeguard Juventus. The path chosen seems to be bearing fruit, despite initial doubts, especially among the fans.
Looking back at the journey, Ferrero emphasized, “Defend our team in all competent forums, whether legal, sporting, or civil. We will do it with determination and rigor, but also with calmness and without any form of arrogance.”
The success of this approach is evident in the club’s trajectory—from initial fears to the current battle for the league title. The Juventus of today is a product of recent history, characterized by complex decisions and a revolution primarily in ideas.
Embracing youth, enthusiasm, and a new path officially opened a year ago, Juventus, in a few months, could reap significant rewards—a prospect that sparks hope and optimism, particularly for President Gianluca Ferrero.
