Allegri reacted on Juventus’ win over Cremonese, transfers, injuries and more
Massimiliano Allegri has reacted on Juventus’ 1-0 win over Cremonese on Wednesday in their first game of the year.
Juventus continued where they left off last year thanks to Arkadiusz Milik’s last-minute goal. The Bianconeri are now on a run of seven league games win in a row without conceding a goal.
At the opening, the Juventus coach commented on the difficulty of the match: “We knew the importance and difficulty of this match, Cremonese are a well organized team. In the first half we made a lot of mistakes technically, there were so many unknown factors. It was a good victory, we took another little step forwardm We extended on fifth and this is very important.”
For the match in Cremona, Allegri left several important players on the bench: “I had some important players on the bench, they came in and did very well. After the match it was back in our hands, we have to congratulate the boys.”
Surprisingly, Adrien Rabiot also took over only in the second half: “He had played in the final, but before the final he had been off for 7-8 days and therefore had his last training session on 10 December. I had too many players with little playing time, instead Chiesa entered very well, Rabiot the same, Paredes did better as a midfielder at the end of the game. Iling came in very well, Kean too. These changes on the bench are very important, especially now that we play a game every 4 days.”
Allegri then took stock of the injured players: “Di Maria trained today, he seems to be better. Angel is a player who has extraordinary quality, but it’s normal that, like everyone else, he has to feel good. He came back and was fine, then unfortunately he took this blow, so we hope to have him available soon. Pogba is progressing well, Vlahovic and Cuadrado are improving.”
Finally, Allegri briefly spoke of the transfer market objectives : “I believe that Juventus have a very important squad. Then there were some defections, but in this phase some important young players came out, including Miretti, Fagioli, Iling and Soulé, even Gatti has grown a lot. I’d say there’s something to be happy about, there’s only room for improvement.
“I always collaborate with the club. There is Cherubini, who updates me on which players are around, then we talk about it. If there is no need, changing to change is useless. The Juventus squad is fine at the moment.”
