Arsenal F.C. and Head Coach Mikel Arteta are constantly pushing for Brazilian and Juventus F.C. midfielder Arthur Melo on loan. Arsenal and Melo have agreed on personal terms for weeks now but face repeating declines of their six-month loan offer for the center midfielder. Juventus will only agree to a long-term solution of a loan of 18-months with a mandatory purchase of between 45 and 50 million euros.
Arsenal Technical Director Edu and Arteta are both convinced of the player, but the Arsenal board does not feel the same. Juventus’ conditions have been laid out and they do not have any intention to let Melo leave without any compensation. Arthur would like the move as he seeks more playing time in preparation for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.
Juventus paid 72 million euros to F.C. Barcelona for Melo in 2020 with Miralem Pjanic going the other way for 60 million euros. Juventus’ plans if Melo were to leave is Nahitan Nandez who currently plays for Cagliari or Denis Zakaria who plays for Borussia Mönchengladbach and who will be a free agent come the summer. It is up to Arsenal whether they accept Juventus’ terms or the Brazilian midfielder is staying for the rest of the season.
