Italian news outlet La Stampa has reported that Cristiano Giuntoli is set to become the new sporting director of Juventus. According to the report, sources close to the club suggest that the final details of Giuntoli’s compensation, skills and staff have been ironed out with Francesco Calvo, the head of the club’s technical area.
The only hurdle remaining is final approval from John Elkann, the president of Stellantis and Exor, the finance company of the Agnelli family that manages the majority stake in Juventus.
In addition to Giuntoli, Giuseppe Pompilio is also set to join the club in Turin as the coordinator of the observers, while Stefano Stefanelli is likely to become the new sporting director of the Juventus Next Gen team. However, the current head of scouts, Maurizio Micheli, is expected to remain in his current role.
The report also suggests that the club is considering a change in technical leadership for the Juventus Next Gen team. Stefano Vecchi is reportedly at the top of the list of potential candidates, although he may opt to stay at Feralpisalò, where he is currently the head coach. It is unlikely that Fabio Cherubini, the current technical director, will leave the club as part of the shake-up in the technical area.

The appointment of Giuntoli as sporting director is seen as a major coup for Juventus, as he is widely regarded as one of the best talent-spotters in Italian football. He was instrumental in bringing some of the biggest names in the game to Napoli during his time there, including Dries Mertens and Kalidou Koulibaly.
His appointment is part of a wider restructuring of the club’s technical area, which is aimed at ensuring Juventus can return to the top of Italian football and compete on the European stage.
