Fiorentina v Juventus: Match preview, team news, probable XI and match key facts

Juventus will be looking to continue their push for the Serie A title when they face Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday evening.

The Bianconeri are currently in second place, just two points behind leaders Inter, and have won their last four league matches.

Fiorentina, on the other hand, have been inconsistent this season and have lost their last two league matches.

However, they have a good record against Juventus at home, having won three of their last four meetings at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Juventus’ recent good form has been built on their solid defense. They have kept a clean sheet in each of their last five outings, and have conceded just two goals in their last 10 league matches.

This is a testament to the work of coach Max Allegri, who has instilled a more disciplined and defensive approach to the team’s play.

Juventus will be hoping to have Federico Chiesa and Dusan Vlahovic available for Sunday’s match. The two former Fiorentina players have been nursing injuries, but both could be fit to start.

Chiesa and Vlahovic formed a formidable partnership at Fiorentina, and their return to the Juventus starting lineup could give the Bianconeri a significant boost.

Despite Fiorentina’s good record against Juventus at home, the Bianconeri are favorites to win on Sunday. They are in better form and have a more settled side.

A win for Juventus would put them back at the top of Serie A, at least for 24 hours.

Some of the key statistics for the match

  • Juventus have won 80 Serie A matches against Fiorentina, compared to just 35 wins for the Viola.
  • Juventus have won two of their last six league meetings against Fiorentina.
  • Juventus have kept a clean sheet in each of their last five Serie A matches.
  • Juventus have conceded just two goals in their last 10 Serie A matches.
  • Fiorentina have lost their last two Serie A matches.
  • Fiorentina have not scored a goal in their last two Serie A matches.

Team news and probable lineups

Juventus could see the return of two former Fiorentina players, Federico Chiesa and Dusan Vlahovic, when they take on their former side on Sunday. Both players have been nursing injuries but could be fit to start.

Chiesa (26 goals in 137 league games for Fiorentina) and Vlahovic (44 in 98) formed a formidable partnership at Fiorentina, and their return to the Juventus starting lineup could give the Bianconeri a significant boost.

Should Chiesa be promoted to the starting XI at Moise Kean’s expense, the pair would aim to finally end their drought versus the Viola: neither has directly contributed to a single goal against them since leaving Stadio Franchi.

Max Allegri’s plans are again hampered by absences, as the visitors still have defensive duo Danilo and Alex Sandro sidelined, while wing-backs Tim Weah and Mattia De Sciglio also miss out due to injury.

Juventus probable XI: Szczesny; Gatti, Bremer, Rugani; McKennie, Miretti, Locatelli, Rabiot, Cambiaso; Chiesa, Vlahovic.

Fiorentina probable XI: Terracciano; Parisi, Milenkovic, Martinez Quarta, Biraghi; Duncan, Arthur; Gonzalez, Bonaventura, Ikone; Beltran.
