Juventus defender Danilo recently spoke with The Athletic, sharing his thoughts on the team’s playing style and praising coach Massimiliano Allegri’s management skills.
“We try to score two or three goals in every game,” Danilo said of Juventus’ playing style. “It would be better to win by a wider margin and with more tranquility. But if we can’t find another goal and things don’t go as we’d like, we have this ability to not concede. We defend as a family and leave everything on the field.”
Danilo also expressed pride in the team’s Brazilian defense, saying, “Having a Brazilian defense in Italy is a source of pride because there is a very precise school here. We learned well thanks to guys like Bonucci, Chiellini, and Barzagli.”
On the topic of Allegri’s management style, Danilo had high praise, saying, “He’s an incredible manager. Among all those I’ve worked with, he’s the best man-manager, and this shouldn’t be taken for granted because managing relationships with human beings isn’t easy.”

Danilo also compared Allegri’s approach to those of previous coaches Sarri and Pirlo, saying, “Sarri and Pirlo were different, but they thought about football in the same way. They wanted short passes and everyone to play close and build through thirds. Allegri sees football more directly, with long passes and aggression, which is another way to win.”
Having recently extended his contract with the club, Danilo is one of the most important players in Juventus this season where he was appointed second vice-captain to Leonardo Bonucci.
He played more than 25 matches starting from the beginning for the first team in a row in Serie A this season and he’s the player who played many minutes for the club in all competitions.
