The highly anticipated Italian Super Cup, which was scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia this year, has been cancelled, as per Around Turin on Twitter.
The decision comes as a result of the four qualified teams for the tournament being deemed unattractive, as only one of the top teams from Serie A (Juventus, Milan, Roma, and Inter) is participating in this edition.
The teams that will meet in the final of the Italian Super Cup are Napoli who won the Serie A and Inter who won the Coppa Italia.
The cancellation is a consequence of an agreement that allows the Saudis to cancel up to two editions of the tournament within a six-year period.

The Italian Super Cup, also known as the Supercoppa Italiana, is an annual football competition that traditionally pits the winners of Serie A against the winners of the Coppa Italia.
However, this year’s edition lacks the usual excitement and appeal due to the absence of multiple top teams.
The decision to cancel the tournament reflects the importance of having a strong lineup of participating teams to attract viewership and generate interest.
With only one top team involved, the organizers and the Saudi Arabian authorities have mutually agreed to cancel the event for this year.
The Italian Super Cup was due to held in Saudi Arabia for the next six years as part of a hosting agreement.
This agreement allows the Saudis to host the tournament for six consecutive years, with the option to cancel up to two editions during that period.
While the cancellation of this year’s edition may disappoint fans, it is within the agreed terms of the hosting agreement.
The Italian Super Cup has traditionally been a showcase of top-level Italian football, bringing together the best teams in the country to compete for the prestigious title.
However, with the lack of participation from multiple top teams, the decision to cancel the tournament for this year is understandable.
⚠️ Looks like the Italian Super Cup will not be held in Saudi Arabia this year, due to the fact the 4 qualified team are considered unattractive (Serie A winner & their runner up + Cup winner & Cup runner up).
