Juventus will not try to sign Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte this summer, Max Statman has learned.

According to reports from England, Aymeric Laporte could leave Manchester City and the Spanish defender has been offered to Juventus, but sources close to the Bianconeri denied the news.

Laporte has emerged himself as one of the better defenders in the Premier League in recent years, but since Ruben Dias and John Stones proved to be the first choice centre-backs for Pep Guardiola, Laporte reportedly wants to leave this summer.

However, this summer Juventus sold Merih Demiral to Atalanta , the Old Lady will not try to sign a replacement, and they have no intention to try to sign Aymeric Laporte.

The Aymeric Laporte-to-Juventus news started to make noise in England earlier this week, as there were reports that the player has been offered to Juve, and the BIanconeri would be happy to take him on loan with an option to buy after one season.

It’s obvious that Juventus will use Matthijs de Ligt, Giorgio Chiellini, Daniele Rugani and Leonardo Bonucci as defenders this season, with Koni De Winter likely to be the fifth option if Radu Dragusin leave – Cagliari and Genoa reportedly interested in him.

Juve’s priority remains to buy a midfielder, with the Bianconeri hoping to close Manuel Locatelli as soon as possible following multiple meetings with Sassuolo. Miralem Pjanic could be an option incase the club manages to sell a midfielder this summer.
