Juventus faces player shortage and injuries before possible Inter match

If Juventus had to play against Inter tomorrow, coach Massimiliano Allegri would have a tough time picking a team.

They only have fourteen players available, not counting goalkeepers. Some, like Moise Kean and Andrea Cambiaso, are not in the best shape.

Despite Allegri’s usual sense of humor, talking about the number 14 being lucky, the situation is serious. This comes just before the important Derby d’Italia, a top-of-the-table clash, which is still nine days away.

More problems in midfield

Things are getting worse for Juventus in the midfield. After Manuel Locatelli, another player, Fabio Miretti, had to leave the National team because of pain in his lower back.

Miretti felt uncomfortable last Saturday before the match against Cagliari but played for an hour. Now, after starting treatment, he will miss matches with the Under-21 team. But doctors think he might recover in time for the game against Inter.

This adds to the issue of Manuel Locatelli, who had to leave the National team on Monday because of a rib injury. A decision on whether he can play against Inter will be made at the last minute.

With Pogba and Fagioli out, and Miretti and Locatelli injured, Allegri only has Rabiot, McKennie, and Nicolussi Caviglia as available midfielders.

Mixed news on injuries

There’s some good news for Moise Kean and Andrea Cambiaso, who came back from concerns at the Italy camp.

Kean has recovered from a knock and trained with the group, while Cambiaso, with a swollen ankle, worked with the Italy squad, although not at full fitness.

For the Inter match, Allegri might get Alex Sandro and Timothy Weah back, but Danilo might not be available, and young defender Huijsen is sidelined with back pain. Allegri is hoping everyone stays fit and is waiting for reinforcements from the treatment room.
