Amidst Juventus’ quest to bolster its defensive lineup following Hujsen’s loan departure to Roma, the Bianconeri have edged closer to securing Tiago Djaló, creating a sudden twist in the transfer saga that initially involved Inter.
In recent hours, negotiations between agents representing the Portuguese defender and Juventus have made significant strides. Djaló, born in 2000, has signaled his readiness to make the move to Turin pending the final contract signing, effectively turning down an initial agreement with Inter.
What adds spice to this transfer tale is Juventus’ breakthrough in reaching an agreement with Lille for the defender’s transfer.
The deal, valued at 3 million euros plus bonuses, is a coup for Juventus, especially considering they have managed to usurp Inter, who had prior agreements in place with Djaló for a free transfer in the summer.
Despite Inter’s earlier arrangements, the Portuguese center-back, whose contract expires in June 2024, appears destined for Juventus, leaving Inter thwarted in their pursuit of the promising defender.
Notably, Tiago Djaló, holding dual Portuguese-Guinean citizenship, boasts an impressive international record with three call-ups to the Portuguese senior national team and significant appearances for the U21s.
His journey from the youth academies of Milan and Sporting Lisbon to accumulating 102 appearances and scoring 3 goals for Lille has now paved the way for a potential new chapter in Turin under the banner of Juventus.
