During tonight’s Nations League semi-final at the Allianz Stadium Juventus will monitor three midfielders, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports. Belgians Axel Witsel & Youri Tielemans and Frenchman Aurélien Tchouaméni are seen as potential reinforcements for Juventus’s midfield.
Youri Tielemans
24 year old Tielemans came through the ranks of Anderlecht’s youth academy before making his debut for the Belgian side. After 4 season with the first team, Tielemans was bought by AS Monaco. His performances didn’t go unnoticed because Leicester City decided to pay €45.00m for the central midfielder. Tielemans has been one of Leicester’s most important players since he arrived. Leicester won the FA Cup for the first time in their history last year after Tielemans scored a fantastic goal in the final against Chelsea. He is valued at €55.00m, and his contract expires in 2023. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus were interested in him last summer.
Axel Witsel
Witsel (32) is the oldest player on this list. The defensive midfielder started his career at Standard Liège and went on to play for Benfica, Zenit, Tianjin Tianhai and his current team Borussia Dortmund. Witsel was close to joining Juventus in 2016 when he was playing for Zenit, but the transfer fell through on deadline day because the Russian side was unable to find a replacement. In January, the Bianconeri tried again with a lower offer, but that was swept off the table by Zenit. Although he is the oldest player on the list, he’s also the cheapest. Witsel’s contract expires this summer, and he is valued at €9.00m.
Aurélien Tchouaméni
Tchouaméni (21) came through the academy of FC Girons Bordeaux. AS Monaco bought the defensive midfielder for €18.00m in 2019. Last season Tchouaméni played 42 matches in which he scored 3 times and gave 4 assists. He also played for the French national team during the European Under-21 Championship this summer. Tchouaméni was Juventus’s backup plan this summer if they hadn’t been able to sign Manuel Locatelli. His current market value is €30.00m, and his contract expires in 2024.
