Juventus suffered a 1-0 defeat to Sassuolo on Sunday and Danilo talked to DAZN after the game.
“We have to improve, there’s no doubt about it,” Danilo said. “The first half was below par. When you let the opponent take control like Sassuolo, who have quality and ball possession, it becomes difficult. We’re sorry, but we need to change our mindset. We have an important match on Thursday.”
Danilo commented on Nicolo Fagioli who was seen crying after losing the ball that led to Sassuolo goal, saying that he did not talk to him yet but it was an important experience for him to learn quickly.
“We haven’t talked yet, but I care a lot about Fagioli,” he said, referring to young Juventus midfielder Nicolò Fagioli, who missed a key chance in the game.
“He knows he missed an important ball, but it’s part of his growth process. The important thing is to learn quickly, but we’re not looking for anyone to blame. We win and lose together.”
When asked about the team’s formation, Danilo stated that it was not about the numbers, but rather about the attitude and willingness to read the game.
“It’s not about the numbers, it’s about the attitude, the willingness, the reading of the game, that’s what matters to me,” he said. “The formation doesn’t matter much when you understand the game in a certain way.”
Danilo also stressed the importance of focusing on what the team can control, despite the various external factors that can influence a game.
“We need to do what we’ve been trying to do all season,” he said. “Focus on what we need to do on the field, which is a lot. Every week there are games, difficult games. We can’t control what happens off the field, we hope everything goes in the best direction. Let’s try to focus only on on-field matters.”
Despite the recent challenges faced by the team, Danilo remained optimistic about their future prospects, citing their unity and strength as a team.
“We’re proud, many things could have changed the focus and attitude,” he said. “We stayed together, working. There are criticisms, many things they say, but we’re united and we’re a team, like a family. Moving forward.”
