Juventus central defender Matthijs de Ligt remains one of the most pursued players from clubs in England, Germany, and Spain. Juventus, however, has always made it clear, he is important and at the center of the sporting project at the club. De Ligt played incredible in the draw against Atalanta last Sunday and has proven time and time again that he is one of the best defenders in the world.
De Ligt has a 125-million-euro release clause with Juventus that teams are not willing to pay. FC Barcelona made a move for the Dutchman but cannot afford to pay the price. Bayern Munich is also interested in the defender but does not usually go on spending sprees for players. At the moment, Premier league teams are the only ones who could afford to pay the price for De Ligt.
Juventus have no intention to sell De Ligt but sources close to Max Statman say that if the defender wants to leave the club, Juventus would sell him for 100 million euros. The Dutchman’s agent Mino Raiola said last year that De Ligt feels he is ready to move on to the next step in his career, but recently, the project and Juventus team have made promising moves that have convinced the defender to want to extend his contract with the club, but Raiola would like to lower the release clause for him to stay. The summer could prove decisive in whether De Ligt stays or leaves, keep an eye on the situation.
