Juventus resurgence: Defensive solidity and return to success

The 2023/24 season started with unpromising prospects for Juventus, excluded from the Conference League and missing two key players, Pogba and Fagioli.

However, the Old Lady, akin to a resurgence after Calciopoli, has emerged with strength. Max Allegri managed to regain the defensive reliability that characterized Juventus’ dominance, winning nine Serie A titles between 2012 and 2020.

Despite Bonucci’s departure during the summer, Juventus has built a solid “wall” around Szczesny, with a defense led by Gleison Bremer.

The famed “BBBC” (Bonucci, Benatia, Barzagli, Chiellini) is now history, and the quartet Szczesny, Gatti, Bremer, Danilo, and Rugani has turned the defense into an almost infallible element.

With Allegri’s return, Juventus is the Serie A team that has won the most matches (17) with a score of 1-0 or 0-1.

Furthermore, the Old Lady stands out as the sixth team with the fewest shots conceded (30) among the top European leagues. Defensive solidity has become Juventus’ signature, confirming its return to success in the league.
