Benfica Lisbon have no plans to release Alejandro Grimaldo in January but will release him on a free transfer in the summer, while Juventus want him in January.

Juventus are still looking to sign a left-back in January, and Grimaldo is one of the players they are targeting after the left-backs’ contract expires in the summer, reports Tuttojuve.

The 27-year-old is one of the best left-backs in Europe and has even turned down a contract extension at Benfica Lisbon where he is considering a free transfer in the summer.

For Juventus to sign him in January will be difficult because Benfica Lisbon continued in the Champions League, while Juventus will play in the Europa League after finishing third in the group.

Juventus is not the only one who wants him because Barcelona, Arsenal and Inter are also interested in his services. Both are in the search for a left wing-back and the Spanish footballer is one of the men on their list.

His coach at Benfica Schmidt fears losing him when he said. “Obviously I hope he stays, but these situations are part of football. If I could, I would ask him to continue for more years at Benfica. He will have to make that decision himself, but at the moment I see him very focused and playing with pleasure.”

The Bianconeri are ready to offer him a 5-million-euro per season salary.
