Juventus will use three defenders at the back for the league match against Empoli on Friday, according to Paolo Aghemo, via Tuttojuve.
Leonardo Bonucci, who is rumored to want to leave Juventus in January, will return in action after Gleison Bremer suffered an injury that will keep him out for 20 days.
The 35-year-old defender played 55% of the games for Juventus this season, was benched five times in the 14 official games, but he will hope to take the advantage of Bremer’s injury to retain his starting spot.
Aghemo announced that Bonucci will return to the first team for the Empoli match, with a view to the use of the Champions League with Benfica.

“With Bremer injured, there are three alternatives: Rugani, Gatti and Bonucci. Among the centre-backs, the one used most was Bremer, while Bonucci has a different management than last season,” said Paolo Aghemo on Sky Sport.
“Bonucci played 55% of potential minutes and was benched 5 times in 14 official matches, but against Empoli he could return to the starting line-up with a view to the use of the Champions League with Benfica.
“The idea is that of a Juventus that can set up with the three defenders and then goes to defend with the four because Cuadrado slips on the right and Alex Sandro widens on the left.”
He added: “Today Juve did double training. The team had lunch together at JHotel, it is a sort of retreat day, an opportunity to be together again and confront each other after the last tumultuous days. Juventus did not solve their problems by magic.”
Juventus will host Empoli at the Allianz Stadium on Friday at 19:45.
