Juventus managed one shot on target, which resulted in the only goal for the Bianconeri. However, it wasn’t enough for the win against Inter.
Juventus were, perhaps surprisingly, given most of possession by Inter. A header by Marcus Thuram was the first opportunity of the game for Inter, but it ended up in Wojciech Szczęsny hands. For that point onwards, Juventus were on the front foot for a little bit. Federico Chiesa got a good opportunity, but his effort was way of target.
After 27 minutes, Juventus broke the deadlock. Federico Chiesa found Dušan Vlahović in the box and the Serbian striker calmly put the ball in the right bottom corner. A goal which meant a lot for Vlahović, as he was kept on the bench by Massimiliano Allegri for a couple of matches. His frustration was visible in his celebration, as he finally broke his goal drought.
The Bianconeri’s euphoria was short-lived, as only a couple of minutes later, Lautaro Martínez beat Szczęsny with a tidy finish. At half time, the score would be a balanced 1-1. But Juventus’ struggles were clear: the defence couldn’t get a hold on Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martínez.

In the second half, this seemed the case too, however, Inter couldn’t take advantage of it. Overall, it was a pretty boring half, with almost no chances on either side. After a disappointing 45 minutes, the Derby d’Italia ended in a 1-1. Inter and Juventus remain at the top of the table with two points seperating the pair, in the advantage of the Nerazzurri.
