Supporters of Juventus had to wait a long two weeks to see their Bianconeri play, but it was worth the wait, as the team looked reJUVEnated after a break that saw them bring in two high profile signings: Vlahovic and Zakaria, who both started and to the thrill of every single Juventini, they both scored goal in a decisive 2-0 win against Hellas Verona Sunday night in Turin. Post game the manager who gave them that start, Max Allegri, spoke with the microphones of DAZN and gave his thoughts, starting with the match and his teams performance:
“There was enthusiasm for the new arrivals. Juve took on three players and all three scored, including Gatti, we must congratulate the club . It was a tough game, Verona are a team that runs a lot. We approached the game well, we must be happy with the performance and remain calm, the path is long. Today there was enthusiasm, it would have been a shame not to win. But Verona played a good match, they damned us.”
Thoughts on Dybala, Morata, Zakaria and Arthur:
“I would let them all play, tonight there was a need for great technique, they were very good in the offensive and defensive phase. Paulo played a good game, a good assist to Vlahovic. Alvaro the same on Zakaria. Arthur also did an important game, more on a defensive level, can grow a lot, we have to keep working, Thursday is the Coppa Italia and we want the semi-final, then Atalanta…”
About the team missing Juan Cuadrado:
“Thursday we have a match, Sunday another … We have to move forward in the Champions League and in the Italian Cup, there are many matches and everyone will play. Cuadrado has played a lot, even in the national team, there are times when there is a need to recover even mentally.”
About the new arrivals Vlahovic and Zakaria:
“Vlahovic has not started very well, he needs to improve on the cleanliness of the game. In the fight he exalts himself, but he must be better at unmarking on the right. He is 22 years old, he does not yet have the experience of many games at high levels but in strength he exalts himself. Zakaria can become Matuidi? The Frenchman was more aggressive, he is good at intercepting with his long legs, he is an intelligent boy, tonight he threw himself in very well. The important thing is to be all well.”
Finally, he talked about the Scudetto:
“The Scudetto is between Inter, Milan and Napoli, we are out of it right now. As for the Champions League, it’s still wide open. We have to take it one step at a time, Atalanta have a game in hand and we go head-to-head on Sunday. The Scudetto is between those three up there. Unfortunately, we are missing those four points that would’ve allowed us to challenge for the title, but we didn’t get those points, so we just have to accept it.”
