Juventus midfielder Nicolò Fagioli has come under the scrutiny of both the Torino Prosecutor’s Office and the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) due to his alleged involvement in illegal betting activities on unlicensed platforms.
The investigation, led by Prosecutor Manuela Pedrotta, has been ongoing for several months and has unearthed the involvement of several bettors, including Fagioli, according to the reports from multiple sources.
Unlike previous match-fixing scandals that rocked Italian football, this investigation is focused on illicit wagers rather than manipulated matches. Fagioli, who is not considered a central figure in the operation, faces potential legal consequences that could involve a fine or even a suspended sentence.
However, the most significant threat to the young player’s career stems from the FIGC’s investigation into violations of its betting prohibition, regulated under Article 24 of the Sports Justice Code. If found guilty, Fagioli could face a suspension of no less than three years, along with a substantial €25,000 fine, which could cast a dark shadow over his future in professional football.

It is worth noting that at this stage, Fagioli has not been formally charged or referred for a sports trial, and the case remains open. The uncertainty surrounding the investigation has likely contributed to the enigmatic social media posts Fagioli shared following Juventus’ victory against Torino.
The Juventus club is naturally informed about the ongoing investigation, and the situation has undoubtedly become a cause for concern for both the player and the team. This incident has raised questions about the mental and emotional toll such investigations can have on young athletes who suddenly find themselves in the spotlight of legal scrutiny.
Notably, back in July, Fagioli was subject to an unrelated accusation made by Fabrizio Corona, who claimed the player had a gambling addiction, though these allegations lacked substantial evidence. It remains unclear whether this accusation played any role in triggering the FIGC investigation.
