OGC Nice are looking to replace Jean-Clair Todibo, who is almost certain to leave the club this summer, and have set their sights on Teden Mengi, a former Manchester United prospect currently playing for Luton Town.

The French club is undergoing a transformation under new management duo Florian Maurice and Franck Haise.

Juventus has been reportedly working on a deal to sign Jean-Clair Todibo as they already has agreements with the defender. Nice are already working on the potential replacement, which increases Juventus hope to sign Todibo.

Initial targets included Jonathan Gradit (RC Lens) and Danilho Doekhi (Union Berlin), but Nice has turned their attention to Luton Town’s Teden Mengi.

The 22-year-old English defender came through the ranks at Manchester United.

Considered one of the most talented young defenders at the club, Mengi was loaned to Derby County and Birmingham City before being sold to Luton Town for €2 million in September 2023.

He had made two appearances for United, including one in the Champions League against Young Boys in 2021.

Despite Luton’s relegation to the Championship, Mengi gained valuable experience and playing time in the Premier League, making 30 appearances and scoring one goal against Crystal Palace.

Mengi’s anticipation, game reading, defensive positioning, aerial prowess, and dueling skills have all impressed Nice.

He has also been tracked for several weeks by Fulham, who see him as the ideal replacement for Tosin Adarabioyo, who has joined Chelsea.

The competition for Mengi’s signature is heating up, with both Nice and Fulham keen to secure his services. Luton Town is reportedly seeking a fee between €12-14m for the defender.

Teden Mengi’s potential move to OGC Nice would be a significant addition to the club’s defense as they look to replace Jean-Clair Todibo.

His experience in the Premier League and his promising attributes make him an attractive target for both Nice and Fulham. The battle for Mengi’s signature is set to intensify in the coming weeks.
