While the summer transfer window is months away and Juventus is currently in crucial stage of the Scudetto race, it’s the perfect time to analyse the players under expiring contract and explore the probability of them leaving or staying.
Paulo Dybala
Although La joya’s contract is set to expire in June, it is no secret that the player is set for an imminent contract extension. But the contract renewal has been the talk of Europe due to the confusion and delay surrounding it.

As per Fabrizio Romano, ‘Juventus had a verbal agreement for three months with Paulo Dybala to extend his contract. But the club has now decided to to take time and wait few months/weeks before deciding on new contracts to be extended.
That’s why Dybala’s future is open. Nothing decided yet.’
Nonetheless as mentioned by Romeo Agresti recently, ‘The intention of Juventus is that Dybala and Vlahovic become a strong duo.’
Therefore Allegri has placed his trust on the Argentine player. Hopefully Paulo would sign a new contract soon to play a pivotal role for Juventus.
Mattia Perin
After spending two seasons at Genoa on loan, Perin returned to Juventus this season. While it was pretty clear that he doesn’t want to be a backup to Szczensy, due to lack of offers he stayed. Mattia has made 7 appearances so far for Juventus in 2021-22 season.
Would he sign a new contract. Probably No. Unless and until he has a breakthrough under Allegri it is quite hard to imagine that he would stay. It’s pretty clear that the Italian player wants to be the starter goalkeeper for the club but as long as Szczensy is playing, it’s really not happening.
Mattia De Sciglio
The Italian fullback has always had a love-hate relationship with the fans. If it was upto them, he would have been sold way before. But now since Allegri’s return, Sciglio has found a way back to the starting lineup once again. Allegri has always had a preference for the player. Mattia has made 18 appearances for the club so far, finding back of the net once and providing 2 assists.
Would he sign a new contract ? Yes
The player has improved immensely under Allegri over the course of this season. He has proved himself decent as a starter and sub, hence a contract extension could not be ruled out. As per Nico Schira, De Sciglio could stay at Juventus. His contract expires in June, but his agents are working for an extension until 2025.
Juan Cuadrado
The Colombian Right back is going to be the next player who according to reports will sign a new deal with Juventus. The player is a very important asset due to his ability to play in different positions and his direct style of play. The player has made 30 appearances for the club in this season so far scoring 5 times.
According to reports by Nico Schira, Cuadrado is set to extend his contract with Juve until 2023 (€5M/year) with option for 2024. Hence the chances of our Number 11 signing a new contract is very concrete.
Federico Chiesa
On 5 October 2020, Chiesa signed a two-year loan deal with Juventus; a €3 million loan for the first season and a €7 million loan for the second season, with a conditional obligation to buy for €40 million plus €10 million in variables.
When the loan spell of chiesa expires in June 2022 , I can say with 120 percent surity that the 23 year old Italian would be a confirmed Bianconeri player. Chiesa has been absolutely phenomenal for both club and country. The signing of Chiesa would be a great investment by the club in long term given the generational talent he is. Chiesa is a gift that keeps on giving.
Alvaro Morata
Morata returned to Juventus on 22 September 2020, on a one-year loan worth €10 million, with an option for purchase at €45 million. On 15 June 2021, Morata’s loan with Juventus was extended until 30 June 2022. Since Juventus reserved the right to extend the loan for a further year for another €10 million; in this case, the option for purchase is worth €35 million. Last season the 28 year old Spanish striker scored 20 goals for us in 44 appearances. The player was very critical for the team since Dybala was marred with injury. Alvaro made 32 appearances for the club in 2021-22 season, scoring 8 goals and recording 6 assists.
Since the signing of Dusan Vlahovic, Morata’a chances of staying has dramatically reduced. Barcelona made attempts to sign him during the winter transfer window but the deal couldn’t go through.
According Fabrizio Romano, ‘Barcelona have their proposal for Álvaro Morata. Juventus have decided they 100% won’t pay €40m to sign him in the summer. This is why Morata is open to join Barça.Although Juventus won’t let Morata leave in June if they can’t find a new striker.’
What happens to the player’s future at the club would be clear in the upcoming window.
Federico Bernadeschi
To be honest the case of Berna could take up a whole damn article. Every season Bernadeschi is a new signing and is given another chance. And this season is no different. Bernadeschi made 23 appearances, scoring once and providing 6 assists. The player was out during the second half of the season due to muscle injury in the groin.
While no one really knows why Bernadeschi is given so many chances when he is very inconsistent, I have got a feeling this might be his last season in black and white shirt. No management in their right mind would extend his contract given he earns a significant amount without contributing much to the team. As much we respect the player , it is time to move on.
To conclude
Whether the players mentioned above stay or leave, depends on the club and the player’s own willingness. But it is very important for Juventus to keep the players who could be the future of the old lady and offload all the deadwoods. Financial crisis is hitting many clubs in football, it’s the need of the hour to protect the club from such hazardous situations and form a stable project.
