Graham Potter on Zakaria future: ‘No decision has been made at all’

Denis Zakaria arrived at Juventus in January from Borussia Monchengladbach, but in the summer, he immediately left and went to Chelsea on loan but since his arrival in England it has not gone well.

The Switzerland international was bought by Thomas Tuchel who was fired by Chelsea in the late September, but since Graham Potter came, he has not played a single minute.

Reports from England suggests that he is unhappy with the way he’s lacking enough time to play, and it may even lead him to leaving the club in the winter transfer window.

The 25-year-old midfielder is set to hold crunch talks with Graham Potter and Todd Boehly over his Chelsea future this week, according to the early report from the Evening Standard.

Denis Zakaria, who does not feature in the plans of current boss Graham Potter, hopes to return Zakaria to parent club Juventus but the Serie A side have no obligation to take him.

With several reports have suggested the loan move could be cut short in January because of his lack of minutes, and Potter was asked for an update in the pre-Brentford press conference.

“No decision has been made at all,” he said.

“Denis has been in the group. He’s been training well, he’s ready to help the team. Obviously, there is competition for places in that area, but there’s no talk of anything.

“He’s an important member of the team. He’s being patient. He’s trying to help the team from the side at the moment and waiting for his chance.”

Zakaria made two appearances for Juventus this season before moving to Stamford Bridge and FIFA rules dictate that a player cannot represent more than two teams across one campaign. Should he play a minute for the Blues, he will be unable to join a third side.
