Jordy Best, who was Mohamed Ihattaren’s personal trainer after returning to The Netherlands without playing a single minute for Sampdoria, spoke with Algemeen Dagblad. Ihattaren is on his way to FC Utrecht, the biggest team of his hometown. It was reported that the Dutch club would like to loan him for 1.5 year yesterday.

Ihattaren called Best in November to tell him that he returned to the Netherlands and wanted to get started. Not long after the two were photographed on a pitch near Utrecht. They had trained together 1.5 year prior. “During November and December I have coached Ihattaren one on one for a couple of weeks. I could clearly see that he hadn’t done anything for a while.” Ihattaren trained a lot with the ball to get fit. Best: “Mohamed is a positive boy, who trained hard and serious, he likes a bit of banter and made big progression quickly.”

Best ‘suddenly’ didn’t hear anymore from Ihatteren in December. “He was well on his way to getting fit. In the conversations I had with him, I noticed his mindset changed. He really had a goal in mind. But after a couple of weeks our contact faded away.”
