Nicolò Zaniolo has been immensely linked with Juventus over the past few months. Specially after the departure of Paulo Dybala, the name that popped up the most was of the 22-year old Roma player as possible replacement for the Argentine. As per recent news, the bianconeri management are still on track for Zaniolo. The priority negotiations of Pogba and di Maria have just delayed the pursue of Zaniolo.
The 22 year old Italian grew up in the Fiorentina youth system. In 2017 Inter Milan signed Zaniolo, but he didn’t play any game for their First team. In june 2018, Zaniolo signed for Roma from Inter as part of an exchange deal.
Zaniolo is a tall, strong, and fast player, who is also a good dribbler. A versatile player, he can operate in several midfield positions, and has been used as an attacking midfielder or “trequartista,” as an offensive-minded central midfielder or “mezzala,” as a box-to-box midfielder, and even as a deep-lying playmaker. He can play as right winger and second striker, as well.
The recipient of 2018-19 edition of the Serie A Best Young Player award, Zaniolo has suffered from an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament twice. The player’s fitness is a major cause of concern.
Zaniolo’s contract with Roma expires in 2024. After his recent heroics for the Giallorossi in the Conference League final again Feyenoord, the Italian has attracted lots of attention from clubs all over Europe. In the 21-22 season, the player scored 8 goals and recorded 9 assists in 42 appearances for the Roman club across all competitions. The winger is considered an important piece of Roma’s project and their manager José Mourinho admires him alot. Nevertheless Roma still doesn’t consider Nicoló as non-transferable and could let him go if a good offer arrives.

However it could be a risky signing given the history of injuries that accompany him.
