Since the closing of the winter transfer window, one player that has been extensively linked with Juventus is Nicolò Zaniolo.
According to FabDellaValle via Gazzetta, “Nicolò Zaniolo for now is just a thought, but well rooted in the head of the Juventus management. “
As reported by Nico Schira, at the start of February, Federico Cherubini had met with the agent of Zaniolo, Claudio Vigorelli. The player was also said to be Paulo Dybala’s replacement in case the Argentine’s Contract renewal fails and he leaves.
In light of the recent developments and reports, Max Statman has decided to explore the profile of Nicolò Zaniolo.
The 22-year-old Italian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder or winger for Serie A club Roma and the Italy national team, grew up in the Fiorentina youth system. In 2017 Inter Milan signed Zaniolo, but he didn’t play any game for their first team. In june 2018, Zaniolo signed for Roma from Inter as part of an exchange deal. He made his debut for Roma in a UCL match against Real madrid.
Zaniolo is a tall, strong, and fast player, who is also a good dribbler. A versatile player, due to his creativity, technique, work-rate, energy, and physicality, he can operate in several midfield positions, and has been used as an attacking midfielder or ‘trequartista‘, as an offensive-minded central midfielder or ‘mezzala‘, as a box-to-box midfielder, and even as a deep-lying playmaker. He can play as a right winger and second striker, as well.
Zaniolo has made 97 appearances for Roma and scored 18 goals. In 8 appearances for Italy, Nicolò has found back of the net twice. In the 2021-22 season, the Italian has scored 4 goals and recorded 5 assists so far in his 28 appearances for the club.
Zaniolo was awarded with the 2018-19 edition of the Serie A Best Young Player award.
Zaniolo’s contract with Roma expires in June 2024. If the Bianconeri were to sign him, Roma would demand a hefty sum of money for their star player.
As per Transfermarket, the present market value of Zaniolo is €33 Million.
In January 2020, Zaniolo suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee during a 2–1 home loss to Juventus. In July 2020 the player returned from injury. Furthermore Zaniolo missed the entire 2020–21 season due to another anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained in September 2020 over the international break. Zaniolo returned to the pitch in July 2021. The player’s fitness is a major cause of concern for the management if they are looking forward to sign him.
Zaniolo is a talented player, he is considered one of Italy’s and Europe’s most promising young prospects. Signing him would be great addition for the club. Whether the deal goes through or not is something to watch out for in the summer transfer window. Until then Max Statman would keep you updated with the latest news and developments.
