Teun Koopmeiners has been linked to join Juventus for Atalanta this merceato. The fee has been speculated at around 60 million euros to join Juventus. This is the fee for him to slot into Juventus’s midfield with Manuel Locatelli and Douglas Luiz.

Basic Info

Teun Koopmeiners is a Dutch international and only isn’t playing in the Euros because of a injury he picked up in a pre-tournament friendly. Koopmeiners is currently playing at Atalanta as an attacking midfielder, and his dominant foot is his left. He is 26 years old, so he is going to enter his prime now and he stands at 6 feet tall.

On Ball

Koopmeiners is in the 98th percentile for goals by midfielders with 0.3 per 90 and for goals & assists per 90 he averages 0.48 which is in the 96th percentile. In expected goals Koopmeiners is in the 95th percentile with 0.21 per 90.

Koopmeiners is also strong when he is progressing the ball to attack.  He is in the 93rd percentile for progressive carries with 3 per 90 and Koopmeiners is in the 97th percentile for progressive passes received. Currently Koopmeiners is averaging 6 per 90.

When looking at passing stats Koopmeiners still looks elite. This is because of his attacking playstyle, mainly into the box. This can be seen when looking at passes and crosses into the area. For passes into the area Koopmeiners averages 2 per 90 which sits him in the 91st percentile. However, when looking at crosses into the area he is at he rises to the 96 percentiles. This is due to his 0.5 per 90.

Off Ball

Koopmeiners has very poor defensive stats due to him being more attacking focused at Atalanta under Gian Piero Gasperini. But one place where he excels is passes blocked where he is in the 75th percentile with 1 per 90. The second place Koopmeiners excels is tackles in the attacking third with 0.3 per 90. This sets him in the 68th percentile.

Role at Juventus

Koopmeiners will likely play as an attacking midfielder in a system similar to a 4-2-3-1 likely. This would mean that one of Kenan Yildiz or Mattias Soule would drop to the bench. Soule has been rumoured to be sold but both could be utilized for Juventus. They could do this playing Yildiz as a second striker behind Vlahovic with Chiesa and Soule on the wings. This would mean Koopmeiners would play more as a box to box with a double pivot in defensive midfield.
