Three positive points to Paulo Dybala leaving Juventus

Paulo Dybala has been the star player at Juventus for the past 7 years. However, now that it is clear that Juve will not extend Paulo Dybala’s contract beyond this summer, here are the three positive points of Dybala leaving Juventus at the end of the season.

Vlahovic Effect

Allowing new stars to succeed Dusan Vlahovic is the new leader of the Juventus attack alongside the sensational Chiesa once he comes back from his ACL teardrop later this year. These are two special elements for the Bianconeri to have in their ranks and while Dybala could’ve co-existed with this exciting duo, perhaps the time was right for the Argentine to step aside and allow them to forge their paths in Turin while he enjoys a fresh challenge of his own.

Financial risk

No financial risk and injury worries anymore Giving Dybala a lucrative long-term extension was an enormous financial risk given the increasing unavailability of Dybala. Dybala has struggled with being physically fit in the last 18 months. The old lady could not afford to pay 10m-12m for a player who simply could not be counted. Allegri fared admirably in his absence and Arrivabene confirmed that the arrival of Dusan Vlahovic relieved the despair of Juve to prolong Dybala.

Modernization

The exit of Dybala offered Allegri and Juventus an opportunity to modernize their approach. A multitude of factors has to be considered in their search for a replacement. They need a durable creator who’s willing to contribute – akin to Chiesa – out of possession. From the beginning of next season, Juve could adopt a 4-3-3 with Vlahovic leading the row and Chiesa on one of the flanks. In Vlahovic, you have a multifaceted focal point with an elite ball strike, while Chiesa is a fierce runner adept at both wings and is almost invincible when attacking space. To balance this front three out, Juve needs a wide playmaker; ideally one able on both feet and comfortable with drifting inside to occupy the spaces between the lines. Ousmane Dembele, Antony, Raphinha and Berardi are the four names that fascinate me.
