Mo ShakeelThe footballing world is still in shock after North Macedonia’s incredible win over Italy, The Italians have now failed to qualify for two consecutive world cups. It’s hugely disappointing that a team with so much talent won’t be playing at the football world’s biggest carnival. Here’s a opinion on what the Azzurri should do next.
I think it’s time to move on from Roberto Mancini, Mancini has done a good job, winning the Euro’s and creating the all time International longest unbeaten steak but there’s no future with him. So, Italy should move on from Roberto after four years.
Who should the federation look to? There has been suggestions of Fabio Cannavaro but this job to me looks too soon for him, maybe in the future. Right now, I’m looking at Stefano Pioli as the guy to lead this talented Italian generation ahead.
The work Pioli has done at Milan is impressive. He’s completely changed the club since taking over from Gennaro Gattuso, whether AC Milan wins the scedutto this season or not. The federation must go for him and give him the two years to implement his style and philosophy on this squad and than lead them in the Euro 2024 in Germany.
