In a recent interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, American international Timothy Weah, currently a vital part of Juventus, opened up about his journey in Italian football and his experiences at the club.

Facing Milan and family legacy

“I’m looking forward to the match against Milan. It’s going to be a truly special match, and I can’t wait. Of course, my father has an important history with the Rossoneri, so this match holds a special meaning for my family. It will also be great to face two national teammates like Pulisic and Musah. For us, it’s a very important match against the top of the table, and I hope it brings us satisfaction.”

Life at Juventus

“I’m very happy at Juventus; it’s fantastic to play alongside high-level players for a club like Juve. I’m learning a lot every day in training. I consider myself very fortunate to play for such a prestigious team.”

Building bonds

“I’ve bonded with a bit of everyone, but particularly with Kean and Pogba. Paul is going through a tough time, and I often go to his house to make sure he’s okay; he’s a great person. Chiesa and Vlahovic have also helped me a lot, and, of course, McKennie has been crucial. He brings positive energy both on and off the field.”

Adapting to a rew role

“I’m learning a new role, which is essential for me. At Juve, I play in a deeper position than with the national team, but I’m adapting well. With the USA, I play in the three behind the lone striker, with quality playmakers like Pulisic and Gio Reyna, a position I really like. Where do I prefer to play? If I could choose, I’d prefer to play on the left with the option to cut inside and take shots. But I understand the team’s needs.”

Coach Allegri and defensive aspects

“Allegri? I know some consider him a defensive-minded coach, but I think it’s a good thing because defensive aspects are fundamental for a team’s success. I know I need to improve defensively, but I can also bring qualities and speed on the counter to create numerical advantages. I’m confident I’ll grow a lot thanks to Allegri.”

Italian football and lifestyle

“Certainly, tactically in Italy, details are taken care of much more. Things have definitely changed compared to Lille, not only am I learning a new role, but the daily work on the field is very different. But I’m very happy, and I feel great in Italy. Honestly, I feel a bit Italian, considering my family’s connection to this country, and I really love the quality of life, and of course, the food.”

Goals at Juventus

“To help the team in the best possible way. I’m adapting more and more to my new role, and I want to continue like this. I think I did well last week in the derby, so I’d like to contribute as much as possible, maybe staying on the field for the full 90 minutes, just like against Torino. Fagioli? To be honest, I don’t know much about it, but I’m confident the club will handle this situation in the best possible way. Of course, I hope Fagioli can come out of it well.”

Timothy Weah’s words provide a glimpse into his life in Serie A and his commitment to Juventus. His passion, versatility, and willingness to adapt make him an asset to the club, and his reflections hint at a bright future in Italian football.
