Lazar Samardzic, the Udinese midfielder has garnered significant attention in recent weeks, with rumors linking him to a move to Juventus. In the midst of these transfer speculations, Gabriele Cioffi, the head coach of Udinese, shed light on the situation during a press conference.
Speaking about the growing interest in Samardzic, Cioffi made it clear that he remains unfazed by the transfer market chatter. “First of all, I don’t concern myself with the transfer market,” he stated. Cioffi’s focus remains firmly on the task at hand – coaching and preparing his squad for upcoming matches.
Cioffi went on to discuss Samardzic’s potential role at Udinese, regardless of the transfer rumors. “If Samardzic leaves, stays, or becomes a symbol of Udinese, it doesn’t concern me,” he affirmed. The coach is more interested in assessing the young player’s daily performances and contributions to the team.
He also underlined that the key criteria for any player at Udinese are performance and dedication. “What matters to me is what Samardzic does in these days and if he plays for the team tomorrow,” he explained.
The coach expects Samardzic, like every player, to display speed and effectiveness with the ball and to contribute significantly without it. Cioffi believes that Samardzic possesses the qualities required to be a pivotal figure within the squad.
Cioffi acknowledged the strong competition for places in the team, stating, “If he does that, he has all the tools to be a leader.” At Udinese, the battle for a spot in the starting lineup is fierce, and the coach emphasized that players must meet these expectations. Competition within the squad is seen as a driving force for excellence.
