UEFA to hold talks with Juventus regarding a farewell to the Superleague project to repair relations
UEFA is waiting to see if the 15 penalty points for Juve will be confirmed or not before deciding on the club’s exclusion from the cups, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Juventus have been deducted 15 points in Serie A, dropping them from third place to ninth place in the league table, which made the hope to make the top four disappear, but will appear in the coming weeks.
However, UEFA would like to avoid excluding Juventus from European cups, given that the Juventus club is among the most successful and followed on the European scene and its absence would weigh heavily.
Ceferin, UEFA’s president, is ready to talk to Juventus’ new management to try to have the least ‘heavy’ hand towards the club which could be excluded for unsportsmanlikeness (if the 15 points were confirmed) or for violations of financial fair-play (salaries line).
