Reports are doing rounds that Matthijs de Ligt is on his way out of Juventus this summer. The 22-year-old Dutch centre back is on radar for top clubs across Europe. The player’s contract expires in June 2024 and he has a release clause of around €150m. Given that the Dutch is the best young defender in the world right now, many clubs are ready to offer money to sign him next summer.
Mino Raiola in an interview recently made remarks about de Ligt’s future. “Matthijs de Ligt is now ready for a new step – he thinks that too”. The Dutch agent added “I think we all know which clubs to mention for Matthijs de Ligt as ‘next step’. We will see this summer. Premier League? It can be Barcelona too, or Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain…”.
Many clubs have been reported to be seriously interested in the young superstar defender and it’s no secret that Barcelona are one of them, as reports always suggested that the club was in talks with Raiola from the beginning and it was always believed that Barcelona is where de Ligt was going to sign after leaving Ajax. So it’s no surprise that a new report today from Nico Shira says that in fact Barcelona have made their first approach to Raiola to try and purchase and sign de Ligt.
