Will Allegri’s defensive approach harm the potential of Chiesa?

Allegri came up against his first real pre-season test when they took on Barcelona on Sunday. The game didn’t go as most of the fans had hoped, the Bianconeri suffered a 3-0 defeat in what was a very defensive approach from Allegri.

Federico Chiesa was brought in from the bench at the half time interval and played the second half after just having to train for six days with his Juventus teammates.

Chiesa was in his own half for most part of the game with alot of opposition players around him, hence, he was unable to make any impact. Chiesa is at his best when he is floating on the wings and dribbling past players which did not happen vs Barcelona.

Allegri is known for a conservative approach, the manager likes his players to be behind the ball and be in a good shape while defending, this could harm the potential.

Maybe I am being too critical of Allegri’s approach in just a friendly against Barcelona and we will see Chiesa in more attacking areas in the future where he can be productive for the team.
