Juventus competing with three clubs for Southampton star

Juventus wants to sign Mateus Fernandes, a young midfielder who plays for Southampton.

The 21-year-old player started at Sporting CP and became well known while on loan at Estoril in the 2023/24 season. He then moved to Southampton for €15 million in the summer of 2024.

Last season, Fernandes scored 2 goals and gave 4 assists in 36 Premier League games. Even though he played well, Southampton finished last and got relegated.

Juventus is not the only team interested. West Ham United, Leeds United, and Atletico Madrid also want him. Leeds just returned to the Premier League and want to strengthen their squad.

So far, none of the clubs have started official talks with Southampton. But all of them have shown interest.

Southampton would like to keep Fernandes to help them get back to the Premier League. However, they might agree to sell him if an offer of £20 million or more comes in.

Juventus plans to make changes in midfield. Players like Douglas Luiz, Fabio Miretti, and Weston McKennie might leave. Juventus is also looking at Sporting’s captain Morten Hjulmand as another option.
