Juventus reportedly set to terminate star’s contract
After Juventus wrapped up their campaign at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, it became increasingly clear that Dusan Vlahovic’s time in Turin was drawing to a close.
While the exact timeline of his departure remained uncertain, it was apparent that his days wearing the black and white jersey were likely over.
Now, in a surprising development, Juventus may be prepared to take a drastic step to part ways with the Serbian striker: terminating his contract.
Juventus are considering offering Vlahovic a contract termination to expedite his exit from the club.
The 24-year-old striker, who joined Juventus from Fiorentina in January 2022, still has one year remaining on his deal.
He is currently the highest-paid player in Serie A, earning a net salary of €12 million per season — about €24 million gross.
Over the past year, Vlahovic’s form has significantly declined, and his market value has dropped. In addition, there has been a noticeable lack of interest from top clubs in Europe who could afford his wages.
Even offers from clubs in Turkey and Saudi Arabia where he could potentially earn the same or more have reportedly been turned down by the player.
With few, if any, options left, Juventus now face a difficult decision. If no club steps forward with an acceptable offer, the club may have to choose between freezing Vlahovic out of the squad or paying him to leave by terminating his contract.
The cost of such a buyout would be high around €24 million but it may be the only realistic solution for Juventus to cut ties with a player who has underperformed and become a financial burden.
This scenario marks a disappointing chapter in Vlahovic’s career at Juventus. Once hailed as a marquee signing and a future star, he may now leave the club not through a high-profile transfer, but via a mutual termination a rare and costly decision that underscores just how far his stock has fallen.
