The Brazilian right-back has earned a surprise call-up for the upcoming Copa America tournament.
Brazil national team coach Dorival Junior has announced his squad for the upcoming Copa America, and there are some notable surprises.
Juventus defender Gleison Bremer has been left out of the squad, while his teammate Danilo has been called up. Danilo will be joined in the squad by Yan Couto, a player who is well-known to Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli.
Couto has been impressing during his loan spell at Girona, helping the Spanish club to secure a second-place finish in La Liga.
The 21-year-old right-back, who is under contract at Manchester City, is a product of the Coritiba youth academy and has represented Brazil at various youth levels.
In 2020, he was signed by Manchester City for €6 million and has since spent loan spells at Sporting Braga and Girona. However, signing him on a permanent basis won’t be easy for the Bianconeri.

Juventus face stiff competition for Couto’s signature, with Real Madrid reportedly leading the race for the Brazilian talent. Other clubs interested in Couto include Bayer Leverkusen and Milan, according to Tuttosport.
Giuntoli is reportedly considering a loan move for Couto, depending on whether he would extend his current deal at Manchester City, which runs until 2025.
Couto’s impressive season at Girona has made him an in-demand defender. He has made 33 appearances for the club, scoring one goal and providing ten assists.
With Bremer out of the Copa America squad, Juventus are looking to strengthen their defense in the transfer market. Couto is seen as a potential target, and Giuntoli’s loan strategy could prove to be a shrewd move.
It remains to be seen whether Juventus will be able to secure Couto’s signature, but the young Brazilian is certainly a player to watch.
