Juventus announces Douglas Luiz on a five-year deal

Juventus has officially completed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa on a five-year contract, keeping him at the club until June 30, 2029.

Douglas Luiz has joined Juventus for for a consideration of €50 million, payable in four financial years, with the addition of ancillary costs up to €1.5 million.

Born in Rio de Janeiro in May 1998, Douglas Luiz began his footballing journey in the youth ranks of Vasco da Gama, making his senior team debut in 2016. Despite his limited opportunities at Vasco (just 39 appearances), his talent caught the attention of European clubs.

Manchester City brought the young midfielder to Europe, but it was during his two-season loan spell at Girona that he made his European debut. In Spain, he amassed 46 appearances before securing a permanent move to Aston Villa.

It was at Aston Villa that Douglas Luiz truly established himself as a force to be reckoned with in international football. He earned his first senior Brazil cap in November 2019 and went on to become a key figure for the Villans.

Over the past five seasons with Aston Villa, Douglas Luiz has made 204 appearances across all competitions, scoring 22 goals and providing 24 assists. His consistent performances and versatility have earned him a reputation as one of the most promising midfielders in the Premier League.

Adding to his achievements, Douglas Luiz played a pivotal role in Brazil’s gold medal victory at the Tokyo Olympics, showcasing his leadership and big-game mentality.
