With the arrival of Douglas Luiz and Khéphren Thuram, Juventus has largely addressed its midfield needs. However, attention has now shifted to bolstering the Bianconeri’s defense, particularly at fullback.
The switch to a four-man defense under new manager Thiago Motta has left Juventus with limited options at fullback.
Andrea Cambiaso and Danilo are currently the only natural fullbacks in the squad, while De Sciglio, Kostic, and Weah are not considered suitable for the role.
As a result, Juventus is reportedly keen on signing Yan Couto, a young Brazilian right-back who has impressed during his loan spell at Girona.
Couto played a key role in Girona’s surprising qualification for the Champions League and is seen as a promising prospect who fits Motta’s attacking style of play.
Couto, who turned 22 recently, is a technically gifted player who can also operate as a wing-back or even an attacking midfielder. Despite his lack of physical stature, he is known for his pace, agility, and crossing ability.
With a price tag of around €25 million, Juventus is reportedly exploring the possibility of securing Couto on loan from Manchester City, his parent club.
However, the Bianconeri will face competition from other interested clubs, including AC Milan.
Couto is currently with the Brazil national team for the Copa America but has yet to feature in the tournament. Juventus will be hoping to secure his services before the transfer window closes.
