Riccardo Calafiori, fresh off a stellar season with Bologna that saw the club qualify for the Champions League and the player himself earn a call-up to the European Championships, has made his goal clear: Juventus.
According to Calciomercato.com, despite the player’s explicit desire to make the big jump, Bologna has initially shown reluctance to let him go, as confirmed by CEO Claudio Fenucci.
Despite the mutual interest between Calafiori and Juventus, the negotiations are far from simple. Bologna, which will almost certainly lose Zirkzee, has set a high price for the 2002 defender.
Giuntoli, the Juventus manager, had initially valued Calafiori at around €25 million, a figure that Bologna considers insufficient to let the emerging talent leave.
Bologna acquired Calafiori last year from Basel for €3 million, securing 50% of the future resale value.
This limits the profit margin for the Emilian club, which is now aiming to use the excellent showcase of the European Championships to further raise the player’s price tag.
The goal is to attract competitive offers from clubs like Tottenham, potentially willing to exceed the €40 million mark.
Juventus, despite their interest in Calafiori, are aware of the financial demands and the competition from other clubs. They are reportedly considering alternative options, such as Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini and Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior.
