Juventus steal Zeki Çelik from Roma as Bianconeri close deal

Juventus are close to completing a deal for Zeki Çelik as the Turkish defender is set to join the Bianconeri on a free transfer.

The right-back was expected to continue with Roma after leaving the club at the end of his contract on June 30, but delays in negotiations opened the door for Juventus to make a move.

According to Romeo Agresti, Çelik has already completed his medical tests in Turin and is ready to sign a three-year contract with Juventus.

The Bianconeri made a late move to beat Roma in the race for the defender. Giovanni Carnevali and Ricky Massara decided to accelerate talks as the club looked to strengthen the full-back position ahead of the new season.

Juventus believe Çelik can be an immediate solution for Luciano Spalletti, adding experience and reliability to the defensive department.

The Turkish international would arrive as a free agent, providing Juventus with a cost-effective signing while improving their options on the right side of defence.

The deal is now close to completion, with Juventus preparing to welcome another new arrival as they continue building Spalletti’s squad for the upcoming campaign.
