Despite securing midfield reinforcements in Douglas Luiz and Khephren Thuram, Juventus remains steadfast in their pursuit of Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners.
The Dutch midfielder is seen as a crucial addition to the Bianconeri’s squad, and sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is prepared to explore various strategies to bridge the valuation gap between the two clubs.
Valuation Gap and Potential Solutions
A significant difference exists between Atalanta’s €60 million asking price and Juventus’ initial offer of around €40 million. To close this gap, Giuntoli is considering three potential approaches:
Player Swaps: Similar to the Douglas Luiz deal, Juventus could offer players in exchange for a reduced cash fee. Dean Huijsen, a defender admired by Gian Piero Gasperini and a potential replacement for the injured Giorgio Scalvini, is a prime candidate.
Fabio Miretti, who has previously attracted Atalanta’s interest, could also be included.
Player Sales: Generating funds through player sales could provide the necessary resources to meet Atalanta’s demands.
Moise Kean’s departure facilitated the Thuram deal, and Juventus has several players who could be deemed surplus to requirements.
Filip Kostic, Arthur Melo, Arkadiusz Milik, and Weston McKennie are among those who could be sold.
High-Profile Departures: While less desirable, selling key players like Federico Chiesa, Matias Soulé, or Dean Huijsen could generate substantial revenue.
Chiesa and Soulé would need to be replaced in attack, but their sale would significantly boost the Koopmeiners pursuit.
Despite the challenges, Giuntoli is determined to secure Koopmeiners, who he views as a vital addition to the Juventus midfield.
After successfully bringing in Douglas Luiz and Thuram, Koopmeiners remains the top target for the Bianconeri this summer.
