Newcastle United has set their sights on Juventus defender Federico Gatti, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
While an official offer hasn’t been submitted yet, the English club has reportedly intensified their scouting efforts on the player. Talks suggest a potential bid in the range of €25-30 million could be coming.
This offer, if it materializes, would undoubtedly force Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli to consider the deal.
Gatti is seen as a valuable asset, but Giuntoli must balance the team’s needs with financial limitations. At Juventus, nearly everyone has a price, and Gatti’s departure would necessitate finding a replacement right away.
The first name to replace Gatti would be Riccardo Calafiori, who is a serious target regardless of other dynamics, but who is now even more expensive for Bologna after his exploits at the European Championship.
Following the Italian is Jakub Kiwior of Arsenal, another defender that Thiago Motta knows well having coached him at Spezia.
They’ve also inquired about Jean-Clair Todibo, whose transfer to Manchester United recently fell through due to regulations (both clubs are owned by the same group).
The message is clear: Juventus is open to offers for Federico Gatti.
In addition to Newcastle, Mirko Di Natale of Tuttojuve reports that Everton also requested infromationa about Federico Gatti.
However, it’s only surveys at the moment, as two Premier League clubs are still yet to open talks. Juventus has not received any offer for the defender as of today.
