Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto is reportedly set to meet with Federico Chiesa’s agent, Federico Ramadani, to discuss a potential move for the Juventus winger.
The news comes as Chiesa prepares to marry his girlfriend on July 20th, the same day as his former Juventus teammate Paulo Dybala’s wedding.
Chiesa, who has been out with a long-term knee injury since January 2022, is said to be valued at around €20-25 million by Juventus, a significant drop from the €30-35 million price tag he held before his injury.
This drop in valuation, coupled with Chiesa’s diminished appeal due to his injury, has opened up the possibility of a reunion with Dybala at Roma.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Giallorossi are keen on reuniting the duo, who formed a formidable attacking partnership during their time together at Juventus.
However, Roma is said to be taking its time with the negotiations, waiting to see if the opportunity to sign Chiesa becomes more concrete.
This approach is similar to the strategy Roma employed in signing Dybala (free agent) and Romelu Lukaku in previous transfer windows. Both players were signed after their respective clubs’ valuations had dropped due to various factors.
Roma’s interest in Chiesa has been further fueled by the disappointing performance of the Italian national team at the recent European Championship, in which Chiesa was a key player.
The team’s struggles have reportedly led to a decrease in Chiesa’s overall appeal among potential suitors.
With Chiesa’s price tag dropping and his appeal waning, Roma believes it has an opportunity to secure the services of a talented winger at a relatively bargain price. The reunion with Dybala could also be a major factor in attracting Chiesa to the club.
