Juventus have officially ushered in a new era with the appointment of Thiago Motta as their new manager on Thursday afternoon.
Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has wasted no time in turning his attention to the transfer market, aiming to provide Motta with the necessary tools to build a competitive squad.
Motta’s Wish List
Motta’s first gift could be Michele Di Gregorio. The potential departure of Wojciech Szczęsny to Saudi Arabia would pave the way for the Monza goalkeeper to take over the reins from the Polish shot-stopper.
Defensive reinforcements are also on the agenda, with Matteo Calafiori and Giovanni Di Lorenzo remaining targets. Di Lorenzo has repeatedly expressed his desire to leave Napoli.
Midfield Reinforcements
The focus is not solely on defense. Giuntoli is also working on providing Motta with the right midfielders.
Douglas Luiz is expected to be the first acquisition in this area, with the deal nearing completion. The injury to Teun Koopmeiners has not altered Juventus’ plans for the Dutch midfielder.
Attacking Options
Further signings are expected for the attacking department, where the situation surrounding Federico Chiesa will need to be assessed.
Giuntoli is monitoring Mason Greenwood of Getafe, who is currently owned by Manchester United. As for Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee, Juventus will only return for his signature if his move to Milan falls through.
Key Points:
- Thiago Motta has been appointed as the new Juventus manager.
- Michele Di Gregorio will replace Wojciech Szczęsny in goal.
- Juventus are still interested in Matteo Calafiori and Giovanni Di Lorenzo for the defense.
- Douglas Luiz is close to joining Juventus to bolster the midfield.
- Mason Greenwood is being monitored as a potential attacking reinforcement.
- Juventus will only pursue Joshua Zirkzee if he fails to join Milan.
