Opinion: This was Juventus’ worst effort of the season

Juventus’s loss to Monza yesterday was a new low for the once mighty club. The effort was embarrassing, with some players looking like they were sleepwalking through the game. The mistakes that led to goals were amateurish, and the manager’s use of substitutions was questionable.

Max Allegri’s tactics and training methods are under scrutiny, as it is difficult to understand how a team of such quality could play with so little effort. The players’ lack of motivation is concerning, and it is unclear what the manager is doing to address the issue.

It is clear that changes need to be made if Juventus wants to regain its status as one of the top teams in Italian football. Federico Chiesa is the only player who should be considered untouchable. He should be the focal point of the club’s future, and the team should be built around him. He should be given the captaincy and become the leader that this team desperately needs.

Aside from Chiesa, many players are expendable. Arkadiusz Milik is the exception, as he has proven himself to be a true centre forward and has shown the grit needed to succeed in this role.

The possibility of Juventus being sent down to Serie B due to the ongoing financial scandal is a real concern. If the team continues to play with this level of effort, it is unlikely that they will make it back to Serie A for a long time. It is time for Juventus to step up and show the world that they are still a force to be reckoned with.
