Juventus 0-1 Napoli: Match Report and Player Ratings

Juventus have not gotten revenge on the 5-1 beating Napoli gave them at the Bianconeri. After two disallowed goals from Juventus, the away side grabbed the win through a late effort by Giacomo Raspadori.
Juventus-coach Massimiliano Allegri had definetly taken a look at how Milan neutralized Napoli in the Champions League last Tuesday. Fabio Miretti was shadowing Stanislav Lobotka throughout the game, while Matias Soulé dropped back to help Juan Cuadrado defend Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Napoli were unable to break through the Juventus defence, but because of the setup, the Bianconeri had difficulty creating their own opportunities. Perhaps the biggest chance of the first half was Arek Milik’s header of a Filip Kostić cross. His effort was too weak and easily caught by Alex Meret.
To be fair, Juventus might have had a lucky escape when Federico Gatti seemed to slap Kvaratskhelia and VAR didn’t bat an eye. A possible handball by Manuel Locatelli also went unseen.
Dangerous Osimhen
The first part of the second half was very similar to what we saw before the break. One of the rare chances in this half was a shot by Victor Osimhen that hit the post. Gatti got a crucial touch on the Nigerian’s shot.
Osimhen came close again after he got away from Gatti, but his volley went over Wojciech Szczęsny’s goal. It would be Juventus to break the deadlock. Juventus countered and substitute Ángel Di Maria dribbled past Juan Jesus, remained cool and beat Meret. However, the goal was cancelled due to a foul by Milik on Lobotka in the build-up.
VAR drama
Juventus continued their late push, as Federico Chiesa made a great run on the left side and found Dušan Vlahović in front of goal. The Serbian scored, but according to the linesman, the ball already went behind.
In the end, Napoli would come out victorious. Giacomo Raspadori was found at the second post and his rocket was too difficult to save for Szczęsny, although the Polish goalkeeper should have done better.
Juventus remain in third place, two points behind Lazio.
