Juventus goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczęsny, shared his thoughts ahead of the team’s Europa League second leg match against Freiburg in a press conference on Wednesday.
Juventus leads the tie 1-0 after a goal scored by Angel Di Maria in the first leg.
When asked about what will make the difference in the game, Szczęsny responded, “To achieve a good result, we have to do what we did in the first leg. We were very organized and patient, and organization will be the key.”
When questioned if it’s easier to prepare for the Europa League than the championship, Szczęsny said, “Not necessarily easier. Here, we have the opportunity to bring home an important trophy because we no longer have the objective of winning the championship. I don’t think it’s easier, but the idea of winning a trophy motivates us.”
Regarding Freiburg’s strategy for the second leg, the goalkeeper expects a different approach from the opponents, stating, “Certainly somewhat different because Freiburg needs to score to advance. In the first leg, they remained very compact at the back, and we will try to limit them. We practiced penalty kicks as we always do in the first leg.”
Finally, Szczęsny was asked if the Europa League excites him as much as the Champions League, to which he responded, “It’s a different emotion, even for Juventus.”
